Shot blasting process

Shot blasting process uses the same method as sand blasting machine except that shot pellets are used instead of sand. Shot blasting process also yields different results to sandblasting; shot pellets are heavier and larger, yielding a far greater kinetic force so powerful it deforms the surface it impacts against. Shot blasting process is largely used for hardening surfaces in many industrial segments such as aircraft, ship and automobile (where any kind of metal sheets are used)
Shot blasting process can be used to harden the surface against against physical stress as well as to smooth out any irregularities. Because of the nature of shot blasting media, a sand blasting machine cannot be used for this process (its parts are designed for fine media, such as sandblasting sand), a specially designed shot blasting machine is used by the shot blasting process. Shot and sand blasting machine are quite similar in purpose and design, however. Shot blasting machines are heavily used in any industry that uses metallolurgy: automobile, ship, aircraft, arms, machinery etc. Shot blasting process is essential to production process involving metal sheets and structures.
